The best and worst bets in craps really depend upon what you are hoping to get out of the game. A bad bet for you could be a great one for me, if I am willing to risk more than you are.

But there are some highly risky bets that go against the house as well as safer bets that are even money. Remember, the casino's job is to take your money. So, first let's look at some of the better bets.

1. The Pass Bet: This is a relatively easy bet and most players use it. However, the payoff is minimal. The bet is placed before the Come Out Roll. If the number is 7 or 11 you win. A 2, 3, or 12 will cause you to lose and any other number establishes the point which allows the game to continue.

2. The Odds: This is a side bet made after the point is established. You win with this if the point is rolled before a 7. There are different odds for rolling different numbers.

Now when deciding on some of the worst bets in the game, remember to take into account the odds of rolling the number. That is a major factor in winning.

3. The Field Bet: There are 16 different ways to win on this bet, and 20 ways to lose. Those are not exactly great odds. Perhaps a better name for this bet would be The Flip Bet, as in flip a coin, you have a 50% chance of winning and a 50% chance of losing.

4. Hardway Bet: This is a one roll bet and it's a long shot. The risk is high but so is the payout if the correct number is rolled.
